Uma Hingorani

Uma Hingorani received a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in 1996 from the University of Michigan. After that, she worked for 22 years as a hospital pharmacist in several settings, from general medicine to surgery, emergency, pediatrics, and intensive care units. She has also specialized as an oncology pharmacist for about 3 years. Although she loved helping patients through medication counseling and the healthcare team by providing drug information and assisting with medication selection, it became clear that allopathy had its limitations. A strong desire to investigate holistic and alternative therapies led her to pursue an Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner degree in 2018, which she completed in August of 2022. She also completed 200-hour yoga teacher training in February of 2022. Along with seeing clients and teaching yoga, she continued to teach as an affiliate faculty at MSU. She believes an integrative approach to healing that incorporates ayurvedic herbs, lifestyle, diet, mantra, etc., and appropriate allopathic medications, can be extremely effective for patients. Teaching students and writing have always been passions of her.
