Sanskrit is a liturgical language, rich in poetry and imagery, that is the foundation of Ayurvedic, Jyotish, and Yogic texts. Its very pronunciation is a yoga. Students are encouraged to learn the basics of Sanskrit to assist in deepening their study of Ayurveda.
Sanskrit will cover alphabets, vocabulary, sentence structures, grammar, and chanting in the Sanskrit language. Moreover, students are required to verbally participate in the form of oral quizzes for the sake of guiding in correct pronunciation. The students will be able to read and write in the Sanskrit language at a beginner’s level upon completion of this two-semester course. Course materials are required for this course and will be listed in the appropriate Syllabus.
