Onion Raita (Onion and Yogurt Salad)
Raita is a traditional “salad” or “condiment” and is a cooling addition to any meal. Raita is served with Parathas, Roti, Rice Pulav, or any dish of your choice. Onion is great for sleep aid too. Ayurveda mentions that eating onion raita before going to bed or at dinner time, will improve your sleep pattern. It helps nourish blood and plasma (Rakta and Rasa dhatu).

Ingredients
- 1 Cup of Plain Yogurt
- ¼ to ⅓ Cup Water as per required consistency
- ⅓ to ½ Cup Onion (Thinly sliced lengthwise)
- 4-5 Mint Leaves (Finely chopped)
- ⅛ Teaspoon Cumin Powder
- ⅛ Teaspoon Salt
- Finely Chopped Cilantro
Instructions
- Slice an onion thinly lengthwise and finely chop mint and cilantro leave.
- In a bowl, add yogurt and water, and whisk together till you have a smooth consistency.
- Now, add onions and mint leaves, cumin powder, chopped cilantro, and salt. Mix it together.
- Serve cold or at room temperature with Biryani (Spicy rice), Pulav, Roti, etc.
