Western Terminology and Understanding goes over vital skills that Ayurvedic students must possess in order to be in practice with the general public. This course is necessary for the aspiring practitioner as they must have the knowledge to understand Western/Allopathic terminology. Moreover, how to interpret and read basic western diagnostic and medical reports, and understand the assessments of other medical professionals is principal as an Ayurvedic Practitioner. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to discuss the nature of the diagnostic test and why the test is performed, and how to comprehend abnormal vs normal test results. Hence, students will learn how to recognize and make use of laboratory tests, pathology reports and medical imaging.
More specifically, how to decipher a Complete Blood Count lab test, and how to determine certain imbalances of the blood is expounded in Western Terminology & Understanding. Additionally, the interpretation and meaning of a Complete Metabolic Panel and Urinalysis is also explored in detail. Finally, the student will learn the differential diagnosis process and when to refer out to other medical professionals in regards to the appearance of serious and life threatening symptoms a client may experience.
