The nerves are subject to training up to a ripe old age, yet there is no question that the best time to train them is during their period of development. During the first eight years of life, when the brain attains its growth, healthy habits to train nerves are most easily formed and the anatomical growth conforms to the habit of the brain.
Up to twenty years of age, the nerves growing with other tissues are particularly responsive to nerve training, accustoming the fibers to carry and the cells to receive the right nerve impulses. Through the medium of the nervous system, the different parts of the body are brought into harmony and the muscles into the coordination which makes bodily movements regular and effective in the execution of one’s desires. The elements and quantum system of the body become readily available to enhance and repair every tissue and cell of the body in its appropriate time of need.
The more perfectly trained the nerves, the finer the coordination and the more accurate the body movements, resulting in less waste of nerve energy. Well-trained nerves help to create immunity par excellence to fight against the worst kind of viruses, bacteria and fungi and don’t allow them to build up poison in the mind and body. and Our Vedic seers knew this secret very well and applied it correctly in the science of Ayurveda and Yoga.
For example, consider the question: Why does a singer have a “true ear?” Because of their auditory nerves. Many times, people say they cannot hear properly, because the root of their issue is lack of training of their auditory nerves that struggle to respond quickly to the stimulus of a sound carried over the wire. However, a trained ear does not experience this difficulty.
Nerve training beginning early in life and through the samskara of Pranayama- (breathing exercises), Mantras (auspicious Vedic or Buddhist chants, Ayurvedic Rejuvenation- like ‘BAL RASAYANAM,’ healthy diet and nutrition (and not sugars), and respecting parents, elders, and teachers was an integral part of Vedic civilization. Because of healthy nervous training, they were able to create the most advanced civilization through coordinating with Mother Nature insteading of harming Mother Nature. They understood the science of sound, frequency, elements, and quantum properly, applied it correctly to enhance civilization, and were given Ashta Siddhis (Eight Achievements):
- Anima- Ability to reduce size of the body
- Mahima- Ability to assume gigantic form
- Garima- Ability to become very heavy in weight by will
- Laghima- Ability to make body very light by will
- Prapti- Ability to acquire anything, anywhere
- Prakmya- Ability to have realized dreams
- Isitva- The power of absolute lordship over entire creation
- Vasitva- Ability to have everything under control, especially the physical manifestations made up of the five elements
Even in this culture and civilization, we can still help our growing children. For example, in Prabhuram Ayurvedic College in 1910-1920, to create ‘Gyan Yoga Samskara Vidhi,’ the following method was administered to children between 5-7 during three times (Pushya Nakshatra, Summer Solstice, and Winter Solstice as per Vedic concept which denotes to Makar Sankarnti and Karka Sankranti):
In the early morning, dip one holy basil leaf into pure cow’s milk while chanting the Gayatri Mantra, and place it on a child’s tongue, that they can chew and swallow after. Note: Children should take a bath and wear pure white clothes before this Vidhi or method.
Rather than create any dissipation through nerve exhaustion, abuse, and depression, let us create healthy nervous systems by training them for a better generation of tomorrow which can create healing, love and peace on Mother Earth and not war, hate and destruction. The time is now and the choice is ours.
