Fundamentals of Ayurveda covers the basic concepts and philosophies that one needs to gain before traversing deeper into this classical medical science. Topics discussed in this course include, but are not limited to; Vedic Sankhya philosophy, Ayurvedic anatomy and physiology, symptoms and causes of imbalances, and Ayurvedic pathophysiology. The Ayurvedic student will learn how to assess both Prakriti and Vikruti in regards to ayurvedic diagnosis, as well as receive in depth knowledge of the five prime elements and how they interact in the formation of the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Furthermore, details of the Mahagunas, the six tastes, and the twenty gunas will be enumerated in Fundamentals of Ayurveda. Additionally, a core understanding of the basic healing methods of Ayurvedic medicine such as diet, lifestyle, and therapeutic applications will be understood by the student so they may apply these methods within their own practice. The notions of Agni, Ama, Prana, Tejas, and Ojas will also be examined in this course.
