Cooking for Diseases

Cooking for Diseases class covers classical principles of Ayurvedic nutrition as it relates to the management of specific diseases. It also provides hands on preparation of specific dishes and recipes which are famous in traditional Ayurveda as treatments for specific diseases. Recommended for our Nutrition track students, this is also taught by Bharat Vaidya and Anupama Vaidya.

  • Ayurveda and dietary guidelines for balancing daily life and during diseases
  • Effects of culinary herbs, foods, and how they are prepared
  • Contradictory or incompatible food
  • Food in particular diseases (Dosha Rogas)

In kitchen setting, students will learn to cook traditional dishes helpful for balancing doshas and for different diseases such as cancer, celiac, flu, cough and cold, high blood pressure, kidney diseases, hyper acidity, digestion problems, arthritis, lever diseases, diabetes, etc. Learn how certain foods and seasonings are preferred through different diseases and their influence on our mind, body and emotions. Traditional Ayurvedic cooking methods and recipes demonstrate how we can take care for ourselves, family and clients.
