Western Terminology and Understanding

After taking Western Terminology and Understanding, students will be able to interpret basic western diagnostic and medical reports, understand the assessments of physician, chiropractor, physical therapists and other health and medical professionals. They will be able to discuss the nature of the diagnostic test and why the test is performed, normal vs. abnormal tests and be able to comprehend the tests brought in by patients to understand various Western medicinal terminologies. Hence, students will learn how to understand and make use of laboratory tests, pathology reports and medical imaging. This is theory course only.

The students will be able to interpret basic western diagnostic charts and medical reports, understand the assessments of other health professionals.

Some Topics covered in this course are:

  • Understand various Western medicinal terminologies
  • Understand and make use of laboratory tests
  • Understand and make use of pathology reports & medical imaging
  • Discuss the nature of the diagnostic test and why the test is performed,
  • Discuss normal vs. abnormal tests and be able to comprehend tests

Note: If a student is enrolled in the Ayurvedic Practitioner or Advanced Ayurvedic Practitioner Program, the tuition fee for this class is included.
