Hibiscus, Rose and Elderberries Tea
In India, Hibiscus flower is offered to lord Ganesha during puja as red color is favorite of Lord Ganesha. Traditionally, we use hibiscus flower powder along with Bhringraj (Eclipta prostrata) powder to make the hair oil. Hibiscus is beneficial for lowering the blood pressure, lowering the body fats and hence helps the weight loss. It is packed with lots of antioxidants and promotes liver health. One of the natural and organic flavors which I like to use is Rose Water or Rose Petals. Rose is anti-inflammatory which in turns aids to reduce painful menstruation. I like to use actual rose petals vs. rose hips for this tea which I have sourced from a local store. If you use rose hips, please do not boil this tea too much as it will turn into bitter taste.
What can I say about Elderberry? One of the wonder plants! The elderberries and flowers are packed with antioxidants and vitamins which helps promote the immune system, support the heart, supports weight loss, reduces stress, helps with sinus infection, etc. With Spring approaching and Kapha getting vitiated, sipping this warm Hibiscus, Rose, Elderberry tea throughout the day will help fight the congestion, boost your immune system, and promote overall health. Please let me know how it turns out for you.
